The Challenge

Having been acquired by NatWest in 2021, NatWest Rooster Money were looking to run a Christmas and New Year social media campaign to raise awareness of their kids’ debit card and accompanying app.

As we’d delivered a successful TV campaign, NatWest Rooster Money approached us to work with them to create a number of short animations for them to AB test across the festive period.

Although these were only going on social media and not TV, it was still paramount that we needed to mould our production process around their fin proms team.

The Execution

As this was the first time NatWest Rooster Money had run a holiday campaign to this extent, we needed to create a number of festive assets (such as fireworks, gift boxes and party streamers) in their distinctive brand style.

As well as creating these assets for their NWRM internal marketing team (to use forever more), we inserted these into storyboards to get signed off by their compliance team. As we are well versed in working in the finance industry, we also thought ahead to include space for legal text at the bottom of the screen and that the legal text would be legible.

Once the storyboards were signed off, we created a number of animations between 10 and 20 seconds using upbeat music and exciting and dynamic movements to capture attention.

We were able to work to a very tight timeframe and applied multiple animators to the project to ensure we delivered on time.

The Results

The campaign was a success and ran over the festive period between Christmas and New Year.  There was great engagement on social media and the team at NatWest Rooster Money were very pleased – not only did we re-version some of their existing animations to be Christmas-themed, we also created new animations from scratch, a number of vector icons for them to use indefinitely and GIFs in different social media formats.
